Vehicle Check

Ensure that your vehicle is sound and fit for the road.  Make all the necessary checks on tyre pressures, oil and water.  Some ferry operators prohibit the use of fuel stored in containers and it is important to check whether additional fuel can be stored and carried on vehicles.  Also important to check boarding fees for different kinds of vehicles, the maximum size and weight allowed.

Make sure you have basic spares.  Obviously, a legal requirement is spare tyres, but also think about bulbs, oil and water. 

Log onto any ferry operator and check the vehicle criteria for travel and transport.  Conditions may vary from operator to operator.  It’s often too late when you get to port to remedy any missing spares and equipment, checks or conditions.
